Meet Our Founders

Husband and wife duo Jeremy (Mr. Garner) and Krystal (Professor K) have both worked in education for several years. Professor K has taught middle school and Highschool at both a district and a charter school. She is now a professor at SEU, the Christian University in Lakeland. Mr. Garner has several years of being a paraprofessional and serving his time with the Reading Corps. The pair first met at a church college group in Texas, have been married for twelve years, and have an eleven year old daughter.

Professor K received her bachelor's from University of Houston, one of the top creative writing schools in the country and went on to receive her masters from Minnesota State University. Through her studies she got to study under great writers who were also great writing teachers and so she also developed a love for passing on the passion for writing.

Mr. Garner has pursued a bachelor's in General Studies, knows a lot about everything, including cheese making (he was once a Cheese Master), and has a great deal of practical business experience on his resume including being manager of a cheese shop. (Cheese will be one unit we cover in our science curriculum, now you know why. Along with other scientific foody knowledge that is useful, haha.)

Founders Personal Testimony: During both of our experiences in K12 education both of us found that students needs were not being met and that schools now days were testing kids to the bone. It was test after test after test wreaking havoc on kid’s stress levels while not actually providing them with skills, knowledge, and inspiration that will help the youth in their futures. The founders of Magic of Writing Microschool, a microschool in Central, FL are on a mission to change the face of education, to prioritize the needs of families and set their kids up for success. We strongly feel that reading and writing are the backbone to learning any subject and that writing is a skill useful in any profession. We don't write the boring district school essays here. We write short stories, comic books, skits, personal CNF, and more. Professor K has noticed that her students have thrived off of her curriculum, many students after the semester visiting to let her know she has impacted their lives. Mr. Garner is excited to cover all of the math curriculum through engaging team building games and do fun interactive Science activities.
